My baby is 6 months and she will not eat baby food. Advice/tips: ?

My baby is 6 months and she refuses to eat the baby food. She liked the sweet potato for a bit but now she will not even have that. I have tried veggies/fruits and she likes nothing. She even gags. Everyone says that babies need a balanced diet and I agree. My baby isn鈥檛 really fussy and I thought she would take to the baby food like a duck to water. She showed all the readiness signs and I got a green light from my ped. She only drinks formula. I recently began putting a teaspoon of cereal (rice, barley, or muesli) in her bottle鈥 heard this is a no, no but I feel she is just not getting enough. This allows her to be sustained for longer periods of time. I do not do it at every feeding. I tried making my own baby food but she did not respond to that either (I only did it twice %26amp; it was carrots). Any advice or tips from parents who went through the same. What worked for you? I know every baby is different I just want some different perspectivesMy baby is 6 months and she will not eat baby food. Advice/tips: ?
At 6 months she gets a balanced diet from her formula. She doesn't need anything more. Whether she isn't quite physically ready, or just doesn't want them yet, trust her. Give her formula and wait for her to be more ready and interested. Which may be tomorrow, or not for 3-4 months.

And definitely stop putting cereal in her bottle. There aren't enough calories in a teaspoon of rice to make the slightest difference in her calories, so it won't help her to 'get enough.'My baby is 6 months and she will not eat baby food. Advice/tips: ?
She is getting everything she needs from breast milk or formula right now. There is no need to push baby food yet, nor to but rice cereal in her bottle. Putting rice cereal in her bottle will not better balance her diet, in fact, it will have the opposite effect.

I would hold off for anothe week or two, and then try again. Not all babies are ready or interested in baby food yet. No need to push it, and no need to worry about it either.
yes you can put cereal in a bottle, no more than 1 once per 7 or8 oz of milk. ok, this may sound crazy but my mom did it w, us and i did it with my baby, try puttin the baby food in the bottle with milk, like 2 onces with 4 oz of milk, try that, see what happens, my baby would eat swwet peas, carrots, fruts, they even have baby food with cereal in it alredy
HAve you tried Applesauce or bananas yet. You might just have a picky eater.

Trial and error my nephew didn't like any thing eater only thing he would eat was carrots for the first month. Then he decided he liked other stuff. LOL. Its ok its not the end of the world. Just keep giving him stuff during the day and see how he does. If your baby is going threw a can a formula in a short time then yes its time to feed solids. Somtimes formula or breastmilk is just not enough food starting at around 6 months. You do what you feel comforable with. And yes you can put rice in the bottle. Gosh, my mom and grandma did it my sisster did it. And we are all just fine LOL.

I hate when you people don't answer the question !!!!
My son Travis hated baby food. He ate sweet potatoes for a short time then nothing. We just feed him regular food from then on. About 6 months. Try what you are having. Just try smal bits and see if she'll eat them. Trav thrived and the doctor was okay with it.
At 6 months she is still getting all her nutrients form breast milk/formula..there is really no need for food..but 8 months and older that is a bit different.
Try a baby feeder there at walmart there real good
My baby also wouldn't eat anything and I got very worried but the fact is that the baby will eat when she is ready. She is 10 months old now and she never really took to the rice/barley cereal. She refused the baby food jars and then eventually I just started giving her mashed up food from my plate and she wanted it because it was MY food. That's how she started eating more but it was when she was about 7 or 7.5 months. She slowly started eating new adult foods with my supervision and then actually went back to the jarred baby food (just so that I was sure she was getting enough fruits and vegetables). She now can eat a whole yogurt, jar of baby food and more at a sitting.

I would say don't worry and it will come. Try something every week or so until you see she is more willing to do it.
