I had braces for 7 years so I know a lot about the subject. You should eat anything you usually do but, try to avoid candy, and anything chewy like taffy, etc. Even hard candies, I once poped a bracket off just by eating a sweet tart! (I know!) Also, try not to eat fruits without cutting them up first, like apples, always cut them first! haha and please, dont eat corn on the cob hahaha, its bad.

They will most likely hurt the worst in your first 1-2 weeks. They will be very painful the first day so try to eat before they are put on, also, try to eat soup, mashed potatoes, etc., something easy.

I recommend getting navy or black. They dont stain and make your teeth look whiter. Hope this has helped you!

And please, brush VERY often, or your breath will be awful, haha sorry.Advice and tips for braces?
First of all I'd like to say good luck! I hope your appt goes well. I remember how scared I was the day before! lol

Before you appt. make sure you take something...such as Tylenol, Motrin, Advil or Ibuprofen. :) If your getting your top ones on it won't hurt to much. The bottom ones are really painful. Make sure you eat alot before your appt to! You'll be living off of soft stuff for a few days. It will take about two or three days for them to stop hurting. Then about a week or two to get used to them. Cold things will really help to numb the pain for the first few days. Try to eat lots of soups, soft breads, pudding, Mac N cheese, Mashed Potatoes are THE BEST! lol Ice-cream is good too. Eventually you'll start to be able to eat normal foods again. I think neutral colors are the best. Nothing to dark or to bright and flashy (that makes them stand out more). Try to keep your mind occupied and off the pain. This will help a lot to. :D Your orthodontist will give you a list of foods to avoid. Such as, caramels, popcorn, candy apples, anything chewy that could break a bracket.

I hope I answer all your questions! Please feel free to contact me if you have ANY other questions! I know how scary it can be. I just got my bottom ones on four days ago. Good Luck %26amp; Best Wishes!! :D
I dont have braces but my friends do

Can and cannot eat- orthidontist will give you a list.

hurt- not when getting in on just for the first few days

how long- my friends say only for a couple of days

eat- soup and soft stuff

colours- purple or navy blue

they will bugg you but my firends say u will get used to it

dont worry u'll be fine
depends on what kind of braces you get. (invisalign) or regular braces? you can eat most foods. probably for a while your mouth will be sore. maybe soft foods first few days like soups and pudding/jello etc.. try to avoid crunching ice!!! big no no. you will brake the wire!! the orthodonist will tell you all you need to know. good luck and congrads! on your smile
It doesn't hurt when you get braces, but it aches like mad! It made my mouth feel really heavy and I wanted to rip them out :( But a couple of days and lots of painkillers sorted that. It's hard to eat solid food for the first few days aswell because biting down is difficult. Soup!!

DON'T eat apples haha, they'll be stuck in your braces for the rest of the day. And don't worry about getting them on, that part doesnt hurt a bit!

It's also best to take a little toothpick/brush thing with you when your eating anything as things always get caught!!

Brush your teeth throughoughly, don't drink fizzy drinks as your teeth will be get stained and under the blocks will be a different colour when they get taken off!

And when they are off, wear your retainerss!!! Or your teeth will go straight back to how they were :)

Oh and about colours - just silver looks best!xxx
