Tips and Advice for Sophemore year? (&supply list)?

How to prepare?

I know the year just ended but i want to be prepared for next year. I slacked off my freshman year so i wanna do better this time.

I have:

World Lit. H (english)

Chemistry H

Geometry

Spanish 2 H

World History AP

Photography 1

Any tips and advice you can give me?

%26amp;%26amp; How do i take really organized notes. Will i mostly need a 5 subject notebook or a notebook for each class?

I know i should know most of this from freshman year but I REALLY REALLY SLACKED!

Please helpTips and Advice for Sophemore year? (%26amp;supply list)?
1st - It is spelled sophomore. Probably the biggest spelling error ever for high school students.

2nd - Don't procrastinate. Don't wait until the last minute to get things done. Do it early and have someone look it over.

3rd - Get involved. Most teachers have discussion, so if you get involved in the discussion, you will probably enjoy the class more and learn more.

4th - Pay attention. Especially in Math.

For your English, read all the books assigned and do your papers. Have people review it for you, and make sure all mistakes are fixed.

Chemistry, pay attention, take notes, and do the labs and everything.

Geo - PAY ATTENTION. Takes lots of notes and do your assignments - don't just look in the back of the book. You won't learn if you don't do your assignments. You will do good on tests then.

Espanol - Take notes, don't use internet translator, and pay attention.

History - Read the book!

Photography - take good pictures.

For your notes, make sure you have a writing utensil and write neat and good.

Just pay attention, study, and do your homework. You should do well if you give it your best effort. Nobody who does their homework fails, regardless of how smart they are.

And don't slack.Tips and Advice for Sophemore year? (%26amp;supply list)?
Erasable pens, scantrons, (tape record the lectures in class if the school rules permit), don't be obsessive in note taking it can really distract you

Tips and advice on acting?

Im 19 years old i left school with realy good grades in performing arts. I didnt go to college or uni due to personal reasons obvs if i had of gone i would of carried on studying performing arts but seens as i didnt i have no idea how to get into acting. College is not an option. Acting is what ive always wanted to do i cant imagine doing anything else i love it to much so some advice or tips would be great i do understand though that it is a very hard industry to brake into but id just like some tips on what to do next. ThanksTips and advice on acting?
hello, your right acting is an exceptionally hard business to get on to, or to achieve in.

However, there are ways to increase the chance you get noticed.

For example you could do a kind of exam called LAMDA; this is a great way to show you know what our doing and how to perform prose and verse. The most important thing to remember though, is do not try, in your acting exams or auditions, to impress them. Do what feels right to you and bring your ideas to the role, and that's when they think you have talent.

There are two different types of acting that have been developed fairly recent in history:

naturelism-previous to the russian stanislavsky, all acting was overdone, however he made everything far more natural and calm, something to think about when acting on camera.

method acting- literally putting yourself in the situation your character finds themselves in.

The final thing to do is find an agency, making sure it is one which can get you in spotlight ( a book for all casting directors ).

Remember be totally yourself, and you will do brilliantly :)

hope this helps

Practice some monologues:

Get your showreel happening:

And get auditioning!:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMpe0e0Sd鈥?/a>

The proof is in the performing and all the best :)
If you live near a big city, you should be able to find acting classes either online or in the local yellow pages or advertised in some show business publication such as the weekly newspaper ';Back Stage.';

If there are community theatres in your area, you can try to get some stage experience by auditioning for their upcoming shows. If there are professional theatres in your area, you can call them or visit their websites to find out if they offer acting classes. If there are summer theatres in your area, you can get in touch with them about apprentice and intern opportunities.

(My suggestions are all based on my experience with the U.S. theatre world. If you're in some other country, things might be a bit different.)
When i was young i got involved in many stage coaches etc, if you did then good 4 you, it depends entirely on how good you are really! visit starnow.co.uk there's extras for tv programmes, theatre etc for whatever you want to get involved in. Also, you might want to try an agency, but check they are good, i am in one at the moment, type in agencys - then the town where you live, and see if there are any auditions etc. If you really want to do this then you've just got to keep trying! Good Luck with the futre! :-)
The only thing you MUST NOT do is, stop believing. Never listen to anyone who puts you down. Keep at it, keep your ears to the ground, and always be involved in theatres. You never know who might be watching you!

Tips and Advice needed on whats the best way to start working out?

-17 years old

-Male

-Weigh about 147 pounds

I weighted 155 just one month ago but I wanted to lose about 8-10 pounds. I wasn't fat but I wasn't lean either. I felt myself getting out of shape, so I went on a diet.

However now I want to start working out and gain muscle/weight. I got all the things necessary to achieve this. Gym, food, transportation. However, I would like some advice on how to do it. In the past I started but never was committed enough. Now, I'm sure I am. I'm willing to go workout early in the morning before school.

-How should I start?

-What workouts should I do?

-What should I eat? What should I eat after?

-Should I spent any money on those protein shakes/bars?

Any tips would be helpful. I just want to get it right this time. ThanksTips and Advice needed on whats the best way to start working out?
4 sets of 6 reps as heavy as possible without losing form with 3 different exercises on each muscle.

Mon- Chest

Tue- Biceps

Wed- Shoulders

Thur- Legs

Fri- Off

Sat- Back and Triceps

This will really work and you'll see good gains.

Eat 6-8 meals a day consisting of 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat. Drink a shake in the morning, one before training, one after training and before bed for optimum results.

Goto http://myprotein.co.ukTips and Advice needed on whats the best way to start working out?
I've got to disagree slightly with the above answer - 4-6 reps of ';heavy as possible'; is good, but probably not best to START with. The weekly routine looks pretty good, but I'd recommend starting with a weight that you can do comfortably ~6-12 reps (totally depends on how you feel) for the first 2-3 weeks or so. You will likely experience a lot of soreness at first, with it becoming more manageable as you train.

As far as protein - in general, the exercise science research literature would suggest that supplementation with bars %26amp; shakes is NOT necessary to gain muscle mass. Regular food with the a diet composed of fat/carb/protein like previous answerer described should improve your muscle mass and strength to the same degree.

Unfortunately, you'll read a LOT of ads/websites/etc. indicating that you NEED their product with their particular protein shake with their particular amino acid cocktail, but the scientific data simply do not support this. By way of citing my sources here - any number of exercise physiology textbooks are available via Google books (e.g., Wilmore et al., 2008; McKardle, Katch %26amp; Katch, 2006, etc.).

  • Tips and advice for singing/acting?

My high school is putting on Beauty and the Beast this year as the musical.

Since this is my senior year, I would like to be casted as Belle however any other female lead/role would be great as well. I kind of look like her so that's an advantage.

However, there are quite a handful of girls who have a great voice and are good actresses; all other girls have just as good of a chance as I do.

What can I do, besides practice singing, to better my chances of getting a good role?

no rude comments, they aren't needed.

please and thank you. :)Tips and advice for singing/acting?
It's all in the confidence. If you are confident, your qualities will show and the director of the play will see that in you. They will see you won't have problem being in front of people, delivering your lines without hesitation. With confidence, you will be able to have at least a decent audition, if not a great audition. If you are confident, then your voice won't be shaky, neither will your monologue. Nor will you forget your lines. To get confident, you have to know what you are doing THOROUGHLY so you don't even have to think. You'll be doing it without much - if any - hesitation! But remember, as long as you tried your best and had fun, that's all that matters! Since it is a musical, singing isn't the only thing that will get you in. Your acting is essential too, because it is musical theatre. Make sure you know your monologue thoroughly and have practiced it until you know it so well, you won't have to think of your lines (or at least not look like it). As for your audition songS, make sure you prepare at least two to sing, so you can show how determined and prepared you are. You can say, ';I have prepared two pieces...';. If you are to sing songs, I suggest two that contrast to show your range, power, and abilities/flexibility. Something like a ballade and pop, ballade and rock, or something like that. For the monologue, it would be good if you had it memorized and thoroughly practiced/known. However, two might be even better! It's all in the effort too. Good luck!Tips and advice for singing/acting?
Stage presence is more important than raw talent.

Your audition should be technically competent. That is, you need to sing on key. However, the lead role will go to the girl with most dazzling star quality, charm %26amp; charisma.

Go out there and exude spirit, confidence, passion, and love of stage.

    Electrify the audience!
try to think of ways to change up your song, like singing it different than the original artists. and dont be afraid to take risks! they will make you stand out more

Tips and advice on juggling marriage, motherhood and life in general?

I am a stay-at-home 1st time mom to a 10 month old boy. I am constantly trying to find a happy medium in my day-to-day routine. I am somewhat of a neatfreak (more in that I like things to be tidy, not perfect), so that makes it a bit harder. I just can't feel at ease when my house is disorderly. I am a bit of an overachiever when it comes to some things. I try to be the best wife, cooking for my husband and keeping everything clean, etc. and I try my best to be the best mom. Even so, it always feels like I screw it up. I get so overwhelmed sometimes! I don' think I ever felt this kind of pressure and stress when I worked 2 jobs. I need some advice on managing my time for my son, my husband, my other family, my housework and myself.Tips and advice on juggling marriage, motherhood and life in general?
    1. Don't sweat the small stuff

    2. None of us are perfect

    3. Take a few minutes each day for yourself

    4. Take time each day for just you and your husband. No talking about the baby. This is couple time.

    5. Try to do the most difficult chores while baby is napping.

6.Sing to baby while you are doing chores. It will keep him happy.

7.Don't try to do everything at once.Break your chores up into 15-20 minute intervals. Then spend 15 minutes with the baby.

    8. Enjoy your son. They are only babies once.If you try too hard to be the ';best mom'; you are putting to much pressure on yourself and you will be missing a lot of the enjoyment.

    9. If you don't have a slow cooker or crock pot you need to invest in one.Put the meal in the cooker in the morning and dinner will be ready when hubby gets home.On good days cook a double recipe and eat one and freeze the other. This works for most casseroles, meatloaf, speghetti sauce,etc...This is especially good on days when baby is fussy or sick.

10.At least once a month get a sitter and have a date night with your husband. This is really important.Sometimes after a couple has children they become mommy and daddy and forget how to be husband and wife.Don't let this happen.

11.Ask hubby to watch the baby every now and then so you can have girl time with family members of friends.

12.Learn to say no to people that ask for things that you don't have time to do or don't want to do.

13.Just remember if something doesn't get done today, there is always tomorrow.

I hope some of these tips will work for you.Don't be too hard on yourself. We ae only human. We are not perfect and never will be.Enjoy your baby and your life.Tips and advice on juggling marriage, motherhood and life in general?
I know what you mean, I have OCD and the main symptom for me is that everything has to be clean. But you have to make family time your priority. If you don't you will miss out on a lot of times that you can't get back. I am a stay at home Mom with 8 kids, if I can do it, so can you.
any time help is offered, take it! and let go of the fact that no one is going to do something the same as you, but in their own way they have done it just as well as you have.

don't forget that you are a person with her own wants and needs and they should be acknowledged and honored, even if you are the only one doing it.

most of all, live every day and enjoy it. don't get caught up in the details or the expectations, they mean nothing in the end.
10 month old is not easy to take care of but it will get easier.

Try to get outside help during this stressful time ( and it is stressful let me tell you). Ask help from Family, friends to take care of little one so you can hubby can take a break. Added stress is probably because you are with baby all day and not getting a break. I am been there and done that.

Also try to get your husband to take over more in the evenings. Share the work load and try to manage your

    time better. Meals will have to be simple and quick %26amp;

house does not have to be in perfect order.

Enjoy these times with your baby as they don't come back.

I have two children ( 10 and 12) and they have given me the most joy in my life. It is all worth it.

In the end the size of your home, how clean it is, how good your meals, size of car, fancy crap will not matter . It is the quality time, love, and happy times that you will cherish and remember.
Yup, happens. And as well, apart from giving up a tidy, organized household, you have given up the next 20 years of your life, and easily $250,000 to raise this child to age 18, with nothing extra--no braces, no symphony tickets, no travel, no private art or music lessons should this child have talent, no nada...zilch. The only thing that money buys is a full belly, some television, a computer, some games, and in hs a phone, texting, and dope.....

So, what you are doing is what you will be doing.... stepping to the plate to become the best mom you can be to a child who never asked to be born.

There are no tips, hon. Being a parent is the hardest job in the world. And expensive beyond anything you ever dreamed.
I give you KUDOS for being sucha great mom-housewife-etc. lots of women become stay at home moms and get all lazy and complain about not wanting to cook and that the work is too much for them. you're doing GREAT!!

Well, I am a mom, i go to school and i work full time... the way I manage my time is the following:

I squeeze as much of my chores during the workday- for instance, i go to the gym at my lunch hour and do my errands before or right after work. That way, when i go pick up my son, i dont have to divert from him to do my errands.

Also, I will come home Friday night and my son and I do the housework together (your baby is still too little but eventually, have him help you out at home, give him little chores and stuff)

He enjoys it because he feels like he has a job/responsibility and knows i appreciate how he helps me out. So we do all the chores Friday night. This way, we dont have to do housework over the weekend and we can do fun stuff.

As for my schoolwork,, I devote one or two nights a week, after everyone is asleep, and do my work. This way, they dont feel neglected.

I know how you feel about wanting stuff to be perfect- it just shows you care about your family and are a good mom. But in actuality, your baby and husband will appreciate you more if you spend time with then: a sinkful of dishes wont bether them.. trust me!
think about what is meaningful to you in your life...If it is a clean house or reading to your child or talking to your mother on the phone, or making love to your husband. WHATEVER it is : write those things down and prioritize them in order of most important to you....every day make time for number one on the list....try to do the other things often...but every day make time for number one...you will never feel dissatisfied. You might not have time for everything all the time anymore..let some things go...just not the important things.
Let some things GO!! You will put a wall between you and your hubby .... and baby if you don't. Learn to play in the dirt... have fun. Noone wants perfection. It makes you a ... is it.... stetson wife? I keep lists( a lot of lists!) and calenders. including what chores to do on what days. I get them done as soon as I can so I have the rest of the day to '; play'; with the babies. Relax. Life is a ride. Enjoy it. If you are to busy cleaning and organising , before you know it, your little one is 14 and has totally changed and you can't even recall when it happened. Slow down, and enjoy life :)

I've been though the same thing and it can be a very nervous thing. Try telling your boyfriend that you are nervous so maybe he can help start up topics that you can join in on. It's ok to be shy at first, a lot of people get like that. Just be yourself and smile and try to get in the convo. Also just try and have FUN!

Good Luck! :)Tips and advice, i'm stressing out and so nervous?

Tips and Advice for a Prospective Cable Installer?

I am interviewing this afternoon for a position as a cable installer. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to what they are looking for?

I have been to many job interviews before, but typically these were more suit and tie, office job interviews. I have a college degree, and don't fit the more typical profile of a cable installer, however the simple fact is I believe that I would enjoy this and do better than anything I have done yet.

I really just want to be able to work with my hands, drive around, meet people, and get paid decently for doing something that won't disappear anytime too soon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, particularly from people who have worked as or hired cable installers.Tips and Advice for a Prospective Cable Installer?

    Tips or advice for college?

I'm a senior in high school and am going to attend Northern Illinois University in the fall. I know it's a few months away but times going by so quick %26amp; it will be here before i know it so its on my mind. Does anyone have any tips or think i should prepare myself by knowing anything before i go off to college? What should i bring with me or leave back at home? I plan on living in a dorm and everything and I don't really have any friends going to the school so i'm going to be on my own. It's a whole new experience and i'm nervous about it.Tips or advice for college?
Start with a dorm list. Beside the obvious like bedding and clothes, don't forget stuff like band-aids, aspirin, tums, and things like scissors, tape, stapler and batteries. Even if you have a car, you don't want to keep running out for the little stuff.

The biggest thing in college to help you is to be organized. You alone are going to have to keep up with when papers are due, and when tests are, teachers don't remind you like in high school. A huge calendar to hang on the wall so everything is in front of you daily will help.

Northern is known as a commuter school. Lots of students live near by and go home on the weekend. Be sure to keep yourself busy. Campus life always has something going on, keep up with the activities calendar. And remember you are not alone, the whole freshman class is going to have to get use to the new experience of college life.

Get to know whatever character you're auditioning for. Think about their ambitions, motivations, past experiences... if you don't know for sure, use your imagination. Thinking about these things can help you get into the role instead of just reading lines.

Remember, acting is not about being a good liar... acting is about being good at knowing that everything you say and do as your character is the absolute truth. That is what makes it believable. I know that's kinda confusing but if you think about it for a minute it really makes sense, and it helps me a lot.

My experience is in stage acting, which is different from acting in movies. I'm not quite sure which you're going for, but the above tips should help with either. Good luck!Tips or advice on better acting? I want 2 be an actresss help!?
I have been professionally acting since third grade. Every chance you get to audition for a play or movie or whatever TAKE IT. It'll look great on your resume.
My advice is to always keep the dream. Have a passion and drive. Never give up. I am going through the same process right now. good luck:)

put some color on your lips! that will make them pop! also try this stuff, its called Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. it keeps frizz out of your hair and smoothes it, while leaving behind a shine. it works great! other than that you are really pretty. i like your eye makeup!
You ARE pretty beautiful. Whatever you do, always accentuate your eyes the most, because this is your best asset. I think hair and makeup like this will look pretty good on you: http://www.click2music.es/fotos_artistas鈥?/a>
i think straight hair would look better on you
You look good now you dont need anything. You are beautiful.
you look ok, try to straighten your hair so the ends dont tip so much
    Nothing, your pretty already!

dont change a thing, love your hair cut. =)
I love your eyeshadows and stuff. do some smoky with purples and not just browns. um. your hair is really poofy. sorry but you should get something to de poof some of it. it would be cute that way. and maybe a bit shorter. wear some bright pink blush and some pinky lipgloss. that would look fabulous on you.

16yr old boy, trying to fight his anorexia! Tips and advice would be most appreciated?

Hey all, i'm 16 , 6ft 1 and at my lowest weighed 6st 6. Now im 7 stone 8 and trying hard to maintain and gain. Because i've grown used to skipping meals for so long, i know ill find it hard to reintroduce a schedule and plan back into my life. i need to start slow obviously. Today i went a bit indulgent and had a medium deep pan pizza from the hut as well as two big bowls of cereal and other stuff. one day doesnt matter does it? especially after ive starved myself so long?

My main problem is body dismorphic disorder, concerning my legs. i hate thinking that they are fat e.g. my thighs and calves. any tips whats best to keep them slender? (besides from running, which is obvious)

also whats a good and light breakfast for me to have, i dont really like too much stodgy cereal e.t.c.

    good light lunch?

and what foods should i be eating to build myself up again :)

also any tips to help me stop thinking / panicking about my legs getting big?16yr old boy, trying to fight his anorexia! Tips and advice would be most appreciated?
Dude everythings gonna be ok,this is a sickness %26amp; not a disease you can over come it!

I think a good light breakfast for you would be a bowl of oatmeal/some fruit/a granola bar/scrambled eggs

A good light lunch could be

A tuna/chicken/egg salad sandwitch with some fruit on the side or maybe a chicken salad with fruit on the side %26amp; a granola bar

Foods that should help build you up are hearty veggies but of course lots of meat! but make sure there lean meats you also need lots of dairy for strong bones so you can try milk/beans/eggs/cheese

Good exercises for your legs of course include walking as you said %26amp; you can also try riding bike %26amp; hiking or rock climbing other things you can do is strech them out alot or lay on your side %26amp; take turns lifting each leg up %26amp; down

Tips on to help you keep things off your mind can vary..just do things you love like maybe you like to write/read or listen to music, you can even go for a stroll or maybe call up a friend ..you can also try by just putting on %26amp; intresting movie or getting on the computer!! basically anything =)

    Anyways,Hope I helped!

Ps.Don't give up or lose hope, just bealive you can do it %26amp; you will!16yr old boy, trying to fight his anorexia! Tips and advice would be most appreciated?
hay, first up good one you for recognising you got a problem.

You want have to worry about those legs getting to big just yet. At 6'1'; you can start worrying when you start getting closer to 12 stone. So no need to panic.Leave the slender legs to the girls.

if you do the usual running that's fine but if you add some squats that would work well. I am not talking those squats with big weights but some free squats(with out weight)They are great for shaping. Add weight when you are ready.

Great breaky is eggs on toast. Or if you like milk shakes, make one with a weight gain powder of your choice of flavoue. Add whatever you like.

By all means have greasies once a week, you gotta live.

    all the best
Wow thats such a low weight, i'm so glad you're asking for help.

How about follow the diet of someone you spend alot of time with, get back to normality and then you'll understand again what normal portions are like.

Besides cereal for breaky, you could try porridge or fruit? Lunch perhaps a tuna sandwich or something? You probably need to focus on eating more carbs to build yourself up, rather than fats.

Running really is the best way of getting legs thin, though swimming is also pretty good. Buy bigger trousers, so you aren't always reminded of your size!

wish you the best of luck, and hope you get lots of good advice.
all i can is well done ! keep it up and from experience of anoexia when i was better did i indulge on all my favourite yummy things!!!! eat more and more!!! healthy is so great , ur love it!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the first answer! LOL! Actually, I was going to say, a banana for breakfast (or make a smoothie - one banana blended with 1 cup of low fat milk), same again for lunch and eat salad or vegies for dinner with small amount of protein (like 100g of lean meat).Am starting a diet tomorrow i need some tips and advice?

I need to lose 15-20 pounds? any tips or advice?

i definitely just gained about 5 pounds this last week alone

im probably around 135 pounds right now

i really need to be at 115

i am tall, and this weight will seem very unhealthy, but im also a ballerina, im not supposed to be ';average'; im SUPPOSED to be ';SKINNY'; so i can be lifted and so certain things wont be so difficult when im dancing

anyway, if someone could just give me a little plan on how to go about losing the extra baggage, i'd greatly appreciate it

i only dance 2-3 days a week, i dont perform anymore (because of my weight, i have to lose weight to be even allowed to audition)

and im not really supposed to run or do gym things because it works against the ballet training

all i can really do is swim and dance and play DDR

about how long / often should i exercise?

what should i be eating (keep in mind there is crappy college food here)

    PPLEASEEE help =D

thank you thank youI need to lose 15-20 pounds? any tips or advice?

also eat small portions every other hours to keep you from getting hungry , hungry means more eating and no fats fast food or try less fried foods
try this maybe help you http://www.shopherbalife.com/?dsext=aldo鈥?/a> good luck
Eat oatmeal or millet for breakfast, one teaspoon of sugar if necessary.

Salad, or beans and corn on a tortilla for lunch.

Soup, or some fruit and protein for dinner.

Low calorie is key, with lots of water, It doesn't really matter what you eat as long as you don't over consume calories. But something like chocolate is more calorie dense rather than fruit or veggies. So you could eat a crap load of fruit and veggies and be full with little calories. Or a candy bar and still be hungry.

Also find a workout video... do some workout everyday!

    MUCH LUCK!

I lost 33 pounds with a diet that involves increased levels of protein and fiber and an natural weight loss supplement called Hoodia. Back in 04 I had to have back surgery and was laying on my back for 22 months recovering and I got a little fat in the process. I couldn;t take one more day of looking in the mirror and seeing a fat *** staring back and I decided to do something about it. My buddy mark is kind of a fitness nut and I asked him what he suggested. He told me he had heard good things about hoodia. If you've never heard of it, (I hadn't either) Hoodia is an all natural herbal supplement that was used initially in South Africa by the native tribes there when they'd go hunting and such because they couldn't carry a lot of food and supplies and because it pretty much eliminated hunger and appetite. I research it and found out that a company called Desert Burn had the best brand out there. I got some and literally the first day I forgot to eat, plus that light headed feeling you get when dieting and that weakness didn;t occur when I took it either. I have kept my weight off for over three years now and I swear by the stuff. If you'd like GOOGLE: online health desert burn hoodia ; Only 100% hoodia gordonii is the oone that works and Desert Burn is that kind. All my best to you and good luck.
Here's my diet and exercise guide, I really recommend you tke control of what you put in your body, and if the food available is crappy, take your own lunch.

Weight loss is all about this equation: energy taken in-energy used (energy for maintaining weight+energy burned in activity)

The basic equation to approximate maintenance needs is:

    Maintenance=body weight in poundsx12

This is an estimate, and you may gain/lose according to difference in metabolism/activity level, weight you have to lose, genetic factors.

    Conversion of weights: 300lbs:136kg:21stone or 1stone=14lbs, 1kg=2.2lbs

If you follow the maintenance and still gain/lose adjust by 250-500cals, monitoring weight after a week for reliability. Once you have a reasonable estimate, you want to lose weight healthily, otherwise, besides compromising health, your body realises what鈥檚 happening and thinks it鈥檚 being starved to death and will resist your efforts by slowing metabolism. When you do eat, it will then use this opportunity to regain as much fat as possible, perhaps more than before. It鈥檚 also important to realise most weight loss in the first week is mainly water, which easily comes back when eating normalises, as water is stored in the body with energy stores.

The guideline for healthy loss, is 1-2lbs a week. This correlates to 3500-7000cals per week, or 500-1000cals less per day than maintenance.

    Example: 200lbs person, maintenance= 200x12=2400cals a day

    2lbs loss a week=7000cals a week or 1000cals less a day

    2400-1000= 1400cals a day produces 2lbs a week loss.

When weight loss stops, you can increase activity and/or decrease cals further by 250-500cals per day.

Diet wise, fruits, veg, grains, brown bread and wholewheat pasta, good fats from extra virgin olive oil, oily fish like salmon, mackerel, fresh not tinned tuna, kippers. Lean sources protein like skinless poultry, lean cuts red meat, eggs, skim milk. At least 2litres or 8pints of water daily is recommended, more if exercising/in hot weather. You鈥檒l need to look at everything you eat, not just the writing advertising the product, but the real information they hide on the back with the calories, carbs, protein, fat and salt. Eventually, you鈥檒l get an idea for the energy in foods, and you won鈥檛 always need to check. One thing to watch out for considering salt intake should be under5g, 1g sodium is 3-4g salt. Most of us eat 6-15g or more salt a day, the only way to cut this enough is to stop eating the premade, prepackaged ready meals and sauces.

Exercise wise, gym training with weights is very beneficial bringing many more health improvements beyond cardio. Resistance training means you don鈥檛 just shrink from a pear/apple shape to a smaller pear/apple, but you actually shape your body at the same time. You won鈥檛 bulk up or become huge, the freaks you see take drugs and have done it for decades. Men have the advantage of testosterone but they still have to work for it, women build muscle much less because they have much smaller amounts of testosterone (except for the ones taking drugs). Resistance training strengthens immune system, boosts metabolism better than cardio (3days vs 30mins-1hr), boosts metabolism longterm and while asleep due to better active tissue in the body, improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, improves digestion, and the list goes on. Cardio is also fine every now and then. Running/jogging on a treadmill is the quickest and easiest way to burn energy as you use bodyweight for resistance, and the treadmill is better on the knees than the ground. I recommend joining a website forum for fitness/training/bodybuilding/powerlifti鈥?you don鈥檛 need to be or want to be a bodybuilder/powerlifter or a pro althlete, but you will need to follow similar diets and exercise plans to achieve good results, and the members have years of experience, offering great advice with nutrition plans and exercise routines. Aim your goals high and you鈥檒l achieve the results you鈥檙e after that much sooner.

16yr old boy, trying to fight his anorexia! Tips and advice would be most appreciated?

Hey all, i'm 16 , 6ft 1 and at my lowest weighed 6st 6. Now im 7 stone 8 and trying hard to maintain and gain. Because i've grown used to skipping meals for so long, i know ill find it hard to reintroduce a schedule and plan back into my life. i need to start slow obviously. well it's all my knowledge says .hope u'll recover soon16yr old boy, trying to fight his anorexia! Tips and advice would be most appreciated?
i knwo how you feel mate. I'm 16 y/o male and have anorexia but the lowest i got to was 71/2st. I'm 5ft 8inch. I'm now 9 st and on the border of being healthy. The only way i got there was thinking positively. I wanted to join a gym but couldn't because of my weight. So every week, when i put on weight, i kept saying to myself the sooner the weight goers on the sooner i get to go to the gym. It worked aswell. I promise you mate, you ned to be at least 10st to be healthy. With your questions, it won't affect your weight gain having a couple of days a week where you eat junk food, as your body is still trying to repair itself, your metabolism is mesed up. Your mind is telling you when your legs are fat whebn ther enot, i was the same with my stomach, but it's all in the mind. Get a second opinion from someon you really trust. Keep going my friend, it's hard journey but you'll get there in the end. Add me as a friend if you weant some more advice, i'm always happy to help soemone who needs some advice. Good luck mate!
You can afford to eat what you want, the only thing that stops you is your anorexic mind. Your legs can't be much slimmer, though exercises as running may make them look bigger for a healthy person, as you will build muscles, but with your current weight it is not likely to believe that your body are able to gain muscles, the main priority would be to keep you alive.

Not all people survive when they get so underweighted as you was, and most people would have to be treated at a hospital before that. Have you ever received any treatment? Haven't you got a diet plan to follow or a nutritionist or doctor you can talk with and ask questions? If you haven't I would strongly recommend you to contact one immediately, because you need help to deal with this.

I don't know how I can make you stop thinking about your legs, but they are at least not fat. You are very underweight, so you will most likely have thinner legs than everyone you see, even skinny girls.
Even though I'm a girl, I think I can relate because at one point in time, I skipped many meals as well.

What I usually do when I start thinking ';I'm so fat'; is to get into my favorite outfit and stand in front of the mirror and just look at all the good points about myself. But maybe that could be a girl thing. :P

Protein is good for building muscle and things like that. Maybe dairy products as well. I don't know much about weight gain, as I never had a problem of being too thin.

Been out of fishing for a long time tips and advice please?

back in the day i was a fish a holic but as a result of becoming bankrupt in the 80s i sold all my fishing gear (around £2000 alot of money back then) and stopped fishing all together.....recently i have have brought a house with its own lake massive thing and full of fish ...im also looking for a fishing boat for a bit of sea fishing (never done that before.. i would be very gratful if you could help answer a few questions.im looking for top of the range gear as i believe this improves ones performance.

best brands of rods for coarse and sea?

    top of the range tackle?(brands)

    some good boats???

carp fishing rods top brands???(was a big time favourite of mine)

good websites where i can purchase all top gear?

and any other information that has changed from the 80s lol i know im sound a bit old fashioned but hey once a fisherman always a fisherman!!

many thanksBeen out of fishing for a long time tips and advice please?
I will be totally honest here, i know very little about course fishing for carp etc. i used to own a game angling store(fly fishing) and sadly a lot of things have changed since then. BUT i do still know anglers in the UK so maybe i can help you out.

Are you looking to buy a boat for saltwater fishing? if so you could buy new but your costs would be high, buying a used boat from ebay would cost a lot.

I don't suggest buying a boat straight away, find a charter boat nad go fishing for the day, see if its still as it used to be, cod stocks in the UK have declined a lot so the chances are you wont catch as much as before. Freshwater fishing however has stayed fairly constant from what i have heard.

As for gear, well i can help you out on the saltwater rods. Ive been told to mention these by some of my British angling buddies.

Firstly the Greys Apollo beach caster-rated 6oz, 13 ft, it will suit most grounds, including rough ground. the M2 version will cost you around £189, with the newer version £200+.

The Century Carbon Metal is a good choice, also in 13 and 14ft sizes, it will suit clean to moderate rough ground.

Reels-The Penn 525 supermag, Abu 7000i and the new 7000 mag. Lighter reels like the abu 6500 sports mag are also great choices.

You will find saltwater and freshwater gear here

Shakespeare is still a good make (I still love my ugly stick) but if you are looking for something bigger then go for shimano boat roads,

other good makes for rods, daiwa, ziplex, grauvell. There is a new one on the market, called sonik the rod for the multiplier is fine I don't like the fixed spinning reel personally but know a few who use it and love it

For reels go for abu garcia, okuma, daiwa or penn.

could not tell you anything about coarse fishing however I am using a bass rod from ron thompson for sea fishing it gives a good fight with 3 mackerel on the end.

fish eagle make a good range of tackle including hokkais, feathers and rigs.

Also mustad and cjt for tackle.

  • No car, baby due in August...winter travel tips and advice for mum of 2 boys?

I am due near the end of August with another large little man. My first born will be nearly a year and a half at that, and he's also a big boy for his age. I have a good jogging stroller for my son, thats great through the snow, and have purchased a chest carrier for my newborn, so that I can take them out with me when my hubby is at work.

What was your experiences, with having two young children in tow during fall and winter? I am hoping to learn from others mistakes or experiences before I create my own lol. :)

I live in Northern Ontario, so take alot of snow into consideration, and the fact that it will take me a few months to feel able to get around easily enough. (it took me 4mths to start getting back into shape after my first was born). I had a hard delivery with plenty of damage done that I had to recover from, on top of lots of weight loss.No car, baby due in August...winter travel tips and advice for mum of 2 boys?
omg....I live in Alberta so TRUST ME I understand the winter dilema....good call planning so early, lets be honest, this is Canada and it could snow again tomorrow...lol.....

the chest carrier is probably your best bet and continue the stroller for your oldest. I suspect that if you can manage with a carrier for the baby for awhile you should get through the worst parts of winter before needing a new stroller. The only thing to watch is that you are careful walking and dont slip on black ice as baby will be in front of you....

IF you can find a double jogger that would probably be ideal once baby is bigger and harder to carry, but I dont know how well it would manuver in heavy snow....

I'm not much help to you am I???? lol...

stick with the carrier and jogger for now, you can always upgrade if you have to (and man will you get a workout pushing a double through the snow)

good luck and congrats on the new little guy!!!!No car, baby due in August...winter travel tips and advice for mum of 2 boys?
Considering the amouunt of snow, would it be feasible to use a buggy with skis attached? I don't know how handy your husband is with tools, but he could rig something, unless somebody already makes something like that.

    Thanks!
You may want to see if you can trade in your single jogging stroller for a double one? It will probably make your life worlds of easier.
try local bike shops for a jogging double stroller, most strollers that are jogging and double can be converted to be pushed by a bike and they have super wide baskets to get your groceries!. I got mine at the bike shop in nanaimo, bc. I tell ya that once my second one comes in october, with not having a car my bike trailer will come in handy with the 3 foot snowfalls we have to put up with!
    consider adoption.

I can't park my truck! I need tips and advice fast!!?

Okay so, this is really embarrasing but I can't park my moms ford f-150 perpendicularly. No, not parallel, but perpendicular. The easy, straight spaces that are probably the most common in America and look like this: | | | | | | | down the row.

I consider myself a good driver and I would never endanger anyone else on the road if I felt I wasn't always in control of my vehicle and aware of my surroundings..

anyways, please! Someone give me some advice or tips on how to do this! No matter how slow I go I just can't seem to fit in between the cones.. I can angle park easily.. in drivers ed they taught you to start turning when the line hits your front tire, and I just slip right in perfectly every single time.

Ten shiny (and quick) best answer points to anyone who can help! I have a test tommorow morning and I'm planning on leaving in about 30 minutes to go do some more practicingI can't park my truck! I need tips and advice fast!!?
Wait till you have enough space to drive on the left side of the lane and swing it in there slow. Pull up until your front bumper is almost past the spot you want. turn the wheel all the way to the right and pull in nice and slow.I can't park my truck! I need tips and advice fast!!?
Go slow, and swing out to the drivers side as much as you can before you start turning into the spot. It's not as hard as your may think, just go slow, and don't freak out, remain calm.
swing wide!!! your truck is longer than most cars so you wanna be as far away from the parking spot as you can before swinging in.Also you wann get the nose over as far as you can as you swing in to make room for the rear end.Don't sweat it man parking a full size truck in todays parking spots is no easy task

Playing freshman girl's lacrosse in the spring? Tips and advice?

my sister has played lacrosse and she said it was tons of fun so i'm thinking about joining too in the spring

i pretty much am a TOTAL beginner.

should i read up on some stuff and before hand learn how to do drills and exercises? should i read up on the rules and guidelines?

or can i just condition for now and then find out this info later?

what are the try-outs like? do they expect you to know everything beforehand?

my sister's busy all the time so i cant have a nice little chat with her on everything lacrosse

    plus she gets annoyed haha

Thank You!Playing freshman girl's lacrosse in the spring? Tips and advice?
lacrosse is a lot of fun!

read up on some of the rules to get familiar

with them. lacrosse is a running sport so it's best

to start conditioning and try and get your sister to help

you out sometimes. if not go to some of her games.

that will help a lot.Playing freshman girl's lacrosse in the spring? Tips and advice?
i would first work on stick stuff like

cradling and catching and throwing just so you can

get used to it then i would look up more in depth of

    the rules.

Im 16 and never worked before. I need tips and advice for my first job!?

I recently turned 16 [feb 04] and I've been trying for the last 2 months to get a job. I need tips and/or help for these problems I am having...

1.) When I file for a certain job(i.e. food service, Cashier, etc..), they are sometimes looking for a person with experience.

How can I get around this if I can.

2.) After applying for these jobs, what comes next? I am not exactly sure as to what is the next step for me too do. Am I suppose to check in and see if they received my app so they can at least look at it if they haven't already or what?

3.) Is it bad to state what you want to be paid if they are asking you. Say in the app somewhere they ask what do I expect to get paid per hour. Should I say the standard or what I am looking to get?

Also if you have any other advice that would be greatly appreciated and please be serious about this. I really need a job right now.

P.s. If you so happen to live in/around Mckinney, Tx Do you know of any jobs that are hiring for young teens or any business that are.

Please and Thank you all!Im 16 and never worked before. I need tips and advice for my first job!?
You can't really get around the no experience thing, but then being 16 and considering the types of jobs you're qualified for, a large part of the work force in those positions started out with no experience. Don't sweat that too much, can't really be avoided. If you get interviewed and they ask you about this spin it by saying something like that's why you're so excited to work there because you think it will be a great experience.

Entry level wage is prob a good answer, with no experience you're going to start out with the lowest wage anyways.

I'd say check back in or resubmit another resume after a week or two if you haven't heard anything. Usually unless they decided to interview you (in which case you're halfway there) you're prob not going to hear from them. New jobs may come up all the time though, and while maybe you didn't make the cut for one, another time around you might, and simply showing persistence and desire to get hired might win them over too.

A good tip: make note of the manager's name so the next time you come in you can ask for them and hand the application to them directly. Then comes the hard part...introduce yourself, shake their hand, tell them how much you want to work there (and have some reasons why thought out cause they'll ask) with a smile on your face, and then say it was nice to meet you and thank them for their time. I swear by this...every time I do this i get a call back, once I was working the next day. Simply introducing yourself is going to get you ahead of all the other people who just drop thier application/resume off.Im 16 and never worked before. I need tips and advice for my first job!?
    You're welcome :) Good luck!

what should i eat? what should i avoid completely? what can i have in moderation? how much should i exercise? what should i have for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack? how long will it take (i want it to be soonish...) ect?

thanks in advance :] (no spam!)How can i slim down? (pics) any tips or advice?
I know you don't want to hear this, but you sound healthy to me. If you're still worried about your weight, try eating 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. That really helps me. In addition, lean meat and veggies are really going to shave off pounds. And if you feel like snacking or really need a sugar fix, fruits are the best way to go. It also helps to eliminate temptation. So if you're really serious about this, take all of your junk food and throw it out, you won't be needing it anymore.

Lastly, don't just think that food will lower your weight. It will, but very slowly. If you want real results, you have to do some sort of cardio or aerobic activity. Anything that gets your heart pumping will help.

And again, try not to feel insecure about your weight. You don't need to live up to anybody else's standards, just your own. So be confident with who you are and how you look, because that always makes you look the best. Good luck! How can i slim down? (pics) any tips or advice?
Wow, that is a great goal! You must be really confident and motivated to do this! Well, never push yourself. Always try your best when you excersize but don't stress your body when lifting weights for example. Try eating foods with almost none or no carbs. Try not to eat junk food for a whole week or two? Go to the gym, work out, do some sports. Never try those ';medication for slimming weight'; they might bring danger to your body. I hope i helped.

I am completely awful when it comes to lyrics of songs I'm ok with every instrument but lyrics are awful for me any advice

Details, I'm an indie music artist who looks for lyrics that make people think Song writing tips, 10 points for most helpful advice
start simple. don't worry about trying to come up with the most creative way to say something. just say what you mean with as few words as possible. all a song is is your own interpretation of the world around you. spend time outside, at a mall - observing...and looking within yourself. how do you feel about love? life? your dog? pretty much anything lol - it's all subjective and the only one who ever has to know a song's meaning is you...but songs that become hits are usually universally applicable to life...but start with you :)Song writing tips, 10 points for most helpful advice
Write down ANY thoughts you have at any time. Not as lyrics, just as thoughts. Then go back and try to work them into some music.
Well, when I was in school, our English teacher gave us some good advice on poetry. She said to stay up after 12 at night(or any time you consider late). She said you open up more and write more meaningfully. It worked quite well for me if I recall. Maybe it will work for you. Give it a go, what have you got to lose? Except a few hours sleep perhaps. Good Luck to you!
    take drugs
When I write lyrics I think of little quirky things about my day. You could write about a tape dispenser and make it sound romantic and thoughtful if you word it right. I'm not recommending that you write about office supplies, but you gotta get your inspiration somewhere.

Pay attention to your favorite songs. What is it that you like about the lyrics? Do they tell a story, make you think or what?

Whatever it is, I like to think that you can tell if the singer is connected with the lyrics instead of just singing them. So use a topic that is important to you. And try writing when you're sad or angry or happy to have your mood reflected in the words you write. Its a good release, too. :D

  • I am taking a CNA class next week. Any advice or tips?

In addition to the other great tips given by the other postee especially practicing proper body mechanics when lifting, moving and transferring patients, please do study the information regarding the human body, different body systems such as nervous system, respiratory, digestive, reproductive, urinary, excretory, integumentary (skin) system (sorry if left any out) and learn about the various illnesses and diseases gone over in class. This may allow you to feel more confident on the job even though the cna doesn't traditionally do assessments and such. Perhaps you can even look at some basic children's books on the human body or to expand on what's discussed in class.

To study for tests while in school (though not for nursing :) I used to make flash cards (out of large lined index cards) as well as mock tests which included multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank questions to help reinforce what was learned in class and in the chapter readings. You may want to ask the instructor what her (or his) tests are like -- the format which can also include short essay and/or true and false questions. It may help one to study a bit easier. Perhaps you can buddy up while studying or form a study group. Wishing you the best of luck and much success!I am taking a CNA class next week. Any advice or tips?
pay attention to the body mechanics section, the hygiene section how to wash your hands and take gloves off ect, it's the little things in this class they will test you on things like wich way the pillow should face towards the door or away, I took my CNA when I was 15 (they made an exception) and I passed just fine and worked as a CNA for three years loved it. But you gotta pay attention to the proper procedure like if your using ';lifts'; pay attention to the right way to use one. Wish I could be more help but i don't know what tips your exactly looking for all I can say is the class is challenging but in a good way I didn't find it hard and it can be alot of fun!

Boy help?????!!! (: Advice and tips please ?!?

theres this boy in my year and we have just started becoming friends now since he added me on msn, hes told me he really likes me and i like him back but we only speak on msn, we are in the same IT lesson and PSHE, i really want to speak to him at school but i dont know what to say, ive heard boyos like it when u make the first move, is that true and can anybody give me any tips?

    Tysm :D

xBoy help?????!!! (: Advice and tips please ?!?
go up to him- preferably when he is not totally surrounded by friends. say hey, and if you want to be cute call him by his e-mail adress. Ask him for help with school work or pick up the convoyou had from the night before. Be cool and confident just like you are on the computer. Good luck and be confident in yourself :)Boy help?????!!! (: Advice and tips please ?!?
Of course boys like then you do the first move! Yeah, you show him that you are available and they can take advantage! Stop watching movies! It's only in movie like this: she made a move and they lived happily ever after!!! Especially when you in school, one wrong move and your school years are ruined !!!! DO NOT TAKE FIRST MOVE!

If he would like you, he would take first step himself! What he is doing is keeping you on his list of options. MOVE on ! Enjoy your school years!!!! You will find somebody in the future who will make all the moves!!!

Let me tell you a secret, guys do not like girls who take any moves, if you available they not interested! They want sex, you need relationship, and you will not find it in school, trust me I went Thru this! And I'm old enough to tell you this with confidence!

    Best wishes and good luck!
say hi, ask him how he's doing ...

see how his reactions are and how he looks, is he nervous or in a hurry to get away from you.. if so then after that just take it easy.

don't make the real first move. a guy sometimes likes a girl that is of mystery or almost hard to get.

all guys are different, take some more time and talk to him, see how he feels about you etc, get to know him before you start to make moves etc.

    :)
Just try and have a casual conversation with him at school and see how things go from there.

And one of you has to make the first move, sooner the better i always say :)
just say alrite or hi or just ask him why he likes you and then see where you go from there

HELP! I love to sing, anybody pls give me some tips on my FALCETO! i'm dying to ask advice from anyone!?

i really do love to sing but when it comes to the falceto part, it just ruins everything. Is there any vocal exercises to improve it? Is diet an important thing in improving one's falceto? please help me out guysHELP! I love to sing, anybody pls give me some tips on my FALCETO! i'm dying to ask advice from anyone!?
If you are a female, you do not HAVE a falsetto. That term applies to the MALE voice, when mature, being able to use a portion of the vocal folds to sing in a higher octave - think Frankie Valli, although this technique is used by classical countertenors - who still have perfectly normal baritone singing voices, when they choose to use them. And no, countertenors are no more likely to be gay than anybody else. Neither were the famous castrati of earlier centuries - their permanent soprano voices were the result of scholarship-hungry parents have them surgically altered to retain their high range, but grow into full male power. Actually, they were often in big demand as escorts (!) at court - but I digress . .

I would assume ( after teaching voice for 35 years) that you are speaking about HEAD voice - the most developed, clear, and projecting sound in your technique. This is in contrast to BELTING , or chest voice - using your chest for resonance, rather than using the facial mask to focus your tone. If you are blinking, or reading this twice, then is just further proves that you need to be evaluated - and more than likely taught - by a true professional voice teacher. You cannot figure this out be reading online - you need to be with a good teacher.

No diet or anything else is going to do this for you. There are NO short cuts. You learn how to do this, just like you learn to read, or ride a bike, or do algebra. It is not *mysterious*, or something you have to be born with - you just get lessons, or at the VERY least, get into a voice class at your HS or college. I feel bad when people who LOVE to sing ask questions that clearly are full of suffering and disappointment - it does not have to be like that! Get lessons, and prepare to SMILE as you improve!HELP! I love to sing, anybody pls give me some tips on my FALCETO! i'm dying to ask advice from anyone!?
Diet has nothing to do with it. Women have a harder time reaching into any sort of falsetto due to the fact that (if I am remembering this correctly I'll look and see if I can find my source or notes on this) the vocal chords differ than those of men and lack the vocal folds needed to produce falsetto. Women can achieve a type of falsetto, but it is not the same as a true falsetto from a man. Where are you in your vocal pedagogy? What is your age? Do you drink plenty of water (OK I guess that diet somewhat matters if you include water)? These are all factors in what you want to do, but I would not really recommend it. You could, without proper training, really hurt your voice.
Diet does not really have an affect.

Work with a voice teacher in your area. (Ask a local choral director for your school, university, or church.)

Only a trained professional can help you increase your range.

Also each person can only sing so high. Maybe you are just one who can belt out the low notes. The grass is always greener...some would kill for that ablity.

But keep working. Just don't overstrain your voice.
A diet is not important. Just skip out the falsetto (isn't that only for men anyways, in women its just signing soprano), if you can't do it, don't strain yourself. If however, you really decide you must learn to sing that high, try to master a new note each day. As the days go by, move on to higher notes, but keep practicing. Soon you might be able to sings a scale up really high. As your family how it sounds, and if you are still not satisfied and won't give up, save up money for some lessons.

I am entering the nursing program this fall...Any advice or tips??

Got my test in 2 weeks what is the best advice on reversing round the corner. Any tips?

Starting past the corner you should make sure it is clear as possible so you don't have to worry about starting and stopping as you swing around. When you can see the curb starting to curve in your wing mirror start turning, increase the amount of turn on the steering wheel gradually as is needed (you have to look out of the back to check noone is behind but make sure to glance at your wing mirror to see how you are doing in relation to the curb). In my experience you are more likely to bump into the curb than stray too far away from it so bear that in mind for the gradual increase of turning. As you are pretty much into the next road glance sideways to check again for cars and then continue with it.Got my test in 2 weeks what is the best advice on reversing round the corner. Any tips?
Take it slowly and remember to use your mirrors to make sure that your passenger side stays as close to the pavement as possible. You have two weeks - go out and reverse around every corner you can - practise is the only way to get it. Good luck with your test.Got my test in 2 weeks what is the best advice on reversing round the corner. Any tips?
When I took my test and lessons the driving instructor put a small sticker in the rear window that was placed in a way that if you lined it up with the curb and used it guide you round you would be spot on.
    Hello

Park up as far as you want to get from the curb and put a sticker in the back or rear side widow where the frame crosses the curb and when you reverse keep that sticker on the curb.

I need advice on how to prepare for the Defense Language Aptitude Battery, any tips?

    short answer.. you can't.

review your grammar rules and sentence structure. and get a good night's sleep the day before.I need advice on how to prepare for the Defense Language Aptitude Battery, any tips?
pretty confusing test. depends on your strengths. there are two parts, the audio portion and the written. the best thing I can tell you is to take a rosetta stone course and get used to the picture word association part. they will show you some pictures and ask you some questions based on the information given. you can do a free rosetta stone course through skillport. this will help you with part of the written. the next best thing I can tell you is refresh yourself with proper grammer techniques in english writing. it will make the other portion of the written test easier if you have a good understanding of grammer rules. as for the audio portion, good luck there is nothing I can say but pay attention, dont get flustered, and do your best.I need advice on how to prepare for the Defense Language Aptitude Battery, any tips?
Studying grammar rules of different languages will help, as well as good cognitive thinking skills. Being able to do simple ';process of elimination'; will also be a great help. The test itself is designed to be confusing and to test your ability to learn a foreign language and, often times, this skill is something that is entirely different from normal ideas of ';intelligence';.

Coming from someone who scored a 132 (passing score is 100), I thought I'd failed miserably when I walked out of the test. Good luck!
personally, i'm thinking about taking the dlab sometime in the future and my plan is using the rosetta stone courses. if your in the army, rosetta stone is free!

I met some guy who use to run track to a very good standard who said I had a good set of lungs on me and that I should try 200m.... he said tho altho I was quick I ran heavy and when your running you shouldn't really hear mutch noise at all and also he told me to run on the front of my feet like high on the toes... altho running like this makes me feel like im running slower, what you guys think? run how i usuly run ... or on my toes like this dude told me..Sprinting tips and advice given to me by some sprint track dude.... any advice mutch appreciated?
keep your it on the balls of your feet because it actually makes you faster but your mind thinks your slowing down but you are actually speeding. keep practicing on your toes and later watch the resultsSprinting tips and advice given to me by some sprint track dude.... any advice mutch appreciated?
it is indeed ideal to run on the tip of you feet when running short distances such as the 100m or 200m. By doing so you can add more force, hence make bigger steps which is crucial. running on the tip of the feet is especially more effective when you use spikes. Spikes are indispensible in competitive running. the shoes are lighter and give you a better grip n the track.

when i made the switch to spikes running 100m, i shaved off at least a second off my best time.
Start off on your toes but also run flat footed.

If you run on your toes too much you can get a stress fracture at the tip of your foot.

Toes, when sprinting the toes are the way to go always. It makes it so that you get as much force out of as little contact with the ground as possible. if you use the flat part of your foot more motion is involved in the actual action of stepping witch can greatly reduce your overall time in the said dash by nearly 2 seconds if you are running at a consistent speed of 12 mph. Good luck with your race =]

I haven't had my period in 3 months and the last one I had was very heavy. I am a virgin. Help/advice/tips?

I have never been with a guy or engaged in any sexual activity. I looked up on some sites that diet, exercise, and stress may account for irregular periods. My diet has not changed much at all. I continue to do the same level of exercise if not a little less then what I should. Stress on the other hand well that could be it. I remember having irregular periods before but not this long. I would go to a doctor but there is no way for me to get to one as I am in college.I haven't had my period in 3 months and the last one I had was very heavy. I am a virgin. Help/advice/tips?
As long as you are not experiencing any pain of uncomfortableness you are OK. In a woman's average lifespan menstruating this does tend to happen now and then.*****

I would not worry too much......if you do not get it in another month though i would go for blood work and a hormone test!!I haven't had my period in 3 months and the last one I had was very heavy. I am a virgin. Help/advice/tips?
everything about causes of irregular periods - see below
Well, maybe something is out of place or something. I once missed my period for 3 months but it came back like 3 days into the third month.

Maybe you;re just more irregular than you thought..?
    Hello dear,

I am in the same boat! My period is so irregular, I never really know when it is coming until I get ';warning signs'; from my PMS symptoms. It drives me crazy every month to stress over it. Stress can wreak all sorts of havoc on our bodies and minds. Try not to stress because it may lead to preventing your body from ovulating, and if you do not ovulate, then there is no trigger to shed your uterine lining, hence no period.

Does your college have student health services? I know that many, if not all, colleges obligate their students to pay for health insurance from the school provider if they do not already have private insurance. Look up in your school directory for the student health office. That should help you find some proper medical treatment if your period is still giving you trouble.

In the meantime, if you're not sexually active, then you do not have to worry about a lot of things! Otherwise, take good care of your body by continuing to eat well, sleep well, exercise, and de-stress.

Wat r some tips on how 2 get a boy 2 like me??? and this time give me some good advice!!!?

theres no magical recipe to make someone to like you. Indeed you should stick to the basics. Be always your self, so that this guy likes you, it must be for who you are, not for something youa re trying to be in order he likes you. Be gentle and sincere with him, show him your enthusiasm in grow knowing each other. Be aware of the mistakes you made on previous relationships and try not to repeat them.Good luck.
Well first thing is try and become friends with them and then start to try to progress your relationship and then if u feel confident ask him out it dosent always have to be guys asking out girl it can be vice versa

Good luck and addios for now

Well a bunch of guys think it is weird if the girl makes the move but look him in the eyes and smile or grin if he looks at you. Its not about try to get him to like you its if he possibly does.
Pay attention to him and hold meaningful conversations. Worry about your looks. Be flirtatious by complimenting him, touching him (hair, arm, etc. NOTHING BIG), play w/ your hair, etc. AND most of all show that you care. Ask ALOT about him.
just b ur self! i know this guy and he doesn't like wierdos who try 2 get him 2 look at u because ur wearing make up! that's what i do lol

you don't sound half bad, could use a little work, but who can't? i'm in a band, and i got some vocal help on talent trove from the singers on there. it's cool because the people on that site are pros and they want to help people like us to get better. kind of like their giving back to the community. if you put music on there like my band has they air it on their itunes station.

I think you sound very nice. I listened to the one with you at the Christmas concert.

    Good Parts:

    *Good control over notes

    *Good breath support

    *Nice clear sound

    *Good pronunciations and diction

    *Nice tone

    Things to Work On:

*Perhaps work on adding some vibrato in the songs a little more. It really does make a big difference!

*Even not seeing the footage, I can tell that you needed to get a little more into it. Don't be afraid to belt out the song and get into what you are singing!

And of course, time and practice will give you even more of a better sound, and technique. You have potential, now you just need to mold the clay you have girl!!

    Keep it up! :)
youre really not bad at all. maybe a bit breathy. but still good :)
You sound pretty good, with some work you could be great!

do you think I can sing?

About to take my driving test...any advice or tips?

what are the little things not to do?About to take my driving test...any advice or tips?
If you need tips you are most likely gonna fail so what i suggest is mess with the dmv person and totally freak them out by driving recklessly, do donuts in the parking lot, speed and hit the breaks, drive up curbs and off of them. Good Luck!!!!About to take my driving test...any advice or tips?
Some things I would tell you not to do is don't be stressed you want to be as relaxed as you can. The more you stress of messing up you will. Also, DO NOT look behind you when backing up use your mirrors cause if you don't they will fail you. Just some other tips as soon as you get in the car put on your seat belt, fix your mirrors, fix your seat, and always use your signals when your suppose to and you should be fine. Just read your book over and over and just do as it says.
Make sure your comfortable. Adjust the mirrors, seat, steering wheel. Then, just do what the instructor says. I took my road test in a snow storm and I passed!!!! Just relax, you will be fine.
