thanksHoping to start MMA, any advice or tips?
Don't worry about getting bigger - worry about getting BETTER. Join a school/dojo/gym and get to training. You'll learn things there that will help you advance and improve, including what your weaknesses and strengths are.
If anything, the martial arts (in general) require flexibility, strength, and conditioning. At home you can start by doing a few things to get you on the right path:
Start with a stretching regimen while you watch TV.
Hit the weights or do body weight exercises (pushups, lunges, squat-jumps, chin-ups, etc.)
Do some jogging, cycling, etc. to get your cardio base.
Watch some videos of various disciplines and see what really catches your attention. If you are enthusiastic about a new martial art, you will learn faster and better.
Read books, too - head to the library and internet and find some info about styles, disciplines, etc. that you are interested in.
But mainly - find a good gym with good instructors and go train!Hoping to start MMA, any advice or tips?
you need to work on your cardio. you can be as strong as you want but if you get winded during the workout it will all be for nothing. Be able to keep up with the class. this will include sprints on the treadmill, squat thrusts, skipping rope (girly but helpful), high jumps.
you can lift wieghts but you dont need to be huge. you will get plenty strong from the workout.
well you dont need to get bigger you need to run more often to get more stamina.you need to be faster and to learn wrestling its the most inportent thing and kick boxing.thats all u need in mma.ps every great fighter started in thier backyard.....lil joe
workout, get a good teacher, run,be in shape and ect...
