Any tips or advice on how to aim better?

I've gone to the shooting range just twice shot about 200 rounds out of a Springfield XD-40(using Winchester .40 S%26amp;W FMJ). Pretty much all of my shots are going to the left or down left of the bulls eye. I can't figure out how to correct this error. Any hints tips would be great. I'm also right hand/eye dominant. The pistol is a borrowed one the range just has good ol' iron sights....don't believe they can be adjusted.Any tips or advice on how to aim better?
It is all about trigger pull, make sure that you pull the trigger with even pressure and that you do not jerk it. This will correct the down and to the left. Slow and Easy trigger pull.Any tips or advice on how to aim better?
Wow. People on here have no idea what they are talking about.

If you are a lefty shooter the problem is simple. You are jerking the trigger, which will cause the barrel to move down and to the left. (Or down and right for a righty. Try it, with an empty pistol jerk the trigger very hard to fire. Exaggurate the pull. You will see the gun will jerk down and left for a lefty)

If you are righty there could be a million other things... Sights are off target, your stance is messed up, poor sight alignment or site picture, poor stance or hand placement... Etc.

';Front sight, front sight, slack, pause, squeeze'; :)

Remember to stare at the front sights when firing. The target should seem blurry.
know your dominant eye (which eye is more accurate).

do this:

aim at something (using your finger)...

look at what you are aiming passing through your finger (donot focus on your finger)...

most people's dominant eye is the right eye

close your right eye and you can see your aim is not on cue..

close your left eye, and open the right you can see its on cue...

aim using your dominant eye... (try to check maybe your dominant eye is left)

goodluck
If the sights are non adjustable, your only solution would seem to be aiming at the two o'clock position area on the bulls eye. Another possibility is your breathing pattern at the precise moment of trigger pull. Some shooters unconciously start to breathe or hold their breath at the moment of pull, and that can affect the aim.
Just a thought, have you tried a different gun. (And no I don't mean a different XD, I mean an entirely different brand.) I find the grip safety on the XD changes how I need to grip the pistol. (I have very small hands so this may not be your issue.) See what else the range has available for rent, try it and see what happens.
';Don't tread on me'; has a good starting place. To learn clean trigger pulls do dime drills. Put an empty case on the chamber and dry fire the weapon with a dime on the front sight balanced off to one side or the other, squeeze the trigger if the dime drops before the firing pin falls keep practicing.
I believe that they have drift sights on them. Have you ever been trained in shooting techniques? The stance and handling techniques will change placement of rounds, even in distances as short as 20 yards.
Aim high and to the right of the bulls eye, it may bring you into the black.
Sober up.
gently squeeze the trigger not jerk it
Stand closer to the toilet
