Look in the Arts and Entertainment section of your local newspaper, and any within easy travelling distance - they should list auditions there. The websites of your community theatres will also list when they haev upcoming auditions. You're going to have a hard time finding stuff to do for a bit if your school doesn't have a theatre programme, as there are very few roles for teens, but stick with it!
Obviously, if your school has theatre, that's the way to go. If it doesn't, look into acting classes in your area - you can find out who's good by looking online and talking to people at the local theatres. There's no such thing as ';affordable'; anything in this business, it's all pretty pricey if you want quality, but you might be able to work something out with the teacher or school if you need financial aid. Until then, immerse yourself in theatre - read and see as much of it as possible. This will help you understand it better and be more educated about it, both of which are vital. There are lots of great resources online, too - it just takes a little work to find them.

Pensacola Christian College (I think it's www.pcc.edu) has a great two week summer drama camp. It's a lot of fun and not too expensive. It's a long way from where you live, but totally worth it.
-It is really important to be able to speak loudly. This does not mean shouting, but project. You want to be able to sound loud, without sounding like you`re yelling.
-If you can sing fairly well, you`ll have a better chance at getting into something. If you can dance, even better. The more you can do, the more people will consider you.
-If you can ';get in character'; easily, that is wonderful. I`ve done shows before, and acting can be hard for some. One of the characters I had to play was a good witch in a fairy tale play. I`m not the fairly tale kind, but I was the main character, so I had to be able to do it. I could ';get in character'; and ';out of character'; without any trouble. It needs to be like an opptional double personnality.
-You need to like what you do. Trust me, sometimes you will want to strangle your fellow characters, but of course you can`t. You have to enjoy acting enough to want to act and not strangle people.
Hope this helps.
